Crested-Butte-Skin-Care-Kori-Caskey002Just the facts, please…

I grew up in Michigan and received my B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1991 from Michigan State University. In 2001 I began training for my esthetics career with Aveda and soon thereafter I was offering professional skin care treatments as a licensed Esthetician with Clear Rivers Skin Care & Waxing. I am a registered yoga teacher, a Board Certified Holistic Health Coach and a Certified Face Yoga Method Teacher. I am a member of the National Coalition of Estheticians, Manufacturers/Distributors & Associations, Association of Holistic Skin Care Practitioners, The American Association of Drugless Practitioners and The International Association for Health Coaches.

The long story…

I think we are put on this amazing planet to love and enjoy life.

After college I moved to Colorado for one ski season (in 1991!). I stayed. I was in Paradise and enjoying nature, mountain sports and a life free of urban stress. Years later I found myself struggling with depression and an eating disorder…what was wrong with me?

At my lowest, I quit eating (one of my favorite things to do!), slept 10 hours or more a night, shut myself off to any social contact (outside of work: my great escape where I either pretended nothing was wrong or had horrible mood swings comparable to the Looney-Tunes Tasmanian Devil), cried, watched hours of television; I had low self esteem of and a true distaste of my behavior and self.  I stumbled upon this quote:

“There is nothing wrong with you that can’t be fixed by what is right with you”

… and was inspired. I learned that there are two kinds of suffering: the suffering that leads to more suffering and the suffering that ends suffering by exploring your deeper issues WHILE you are suffering.

To work through my ‘low point’, I hired and worked with an amazing counselor, explored Ayurveda, read a ton of self-help books, listened to CD’s and Podcasts, attended workshops, got Rolfed, journaled, learned to meditate and returned to yoga.

I needed to matter and feel important. I needed nourishment. Not merely sustenance from proper foods for my bio-individuality but nourishment in the form of meaningful relationships and career.

It was whole, organic foods that strengthened my body and the yoga and meditation that transformed my mind.  I have learned so much in the last six years of this depression-journey and I have made it my life goal to learn to love more and enjoy my short time here to the fullest. I aim to help you do the same, in your own unique way!
